Customer Reviews about Intercity Transit:

  • It's great that the transit is so cheap to ride, but they are cash only and the hours are quite inconvenient for multiple bus routes. The employees in the transit center were polite and helpful on the occasions I had to talk to them. Bathrooms are clean.

There needs to be more restrooms. If you are switching buses and need to quickly use the restroom chances are you won't be able to. This is am extreme inconvenience if you are planning a long bus trip.

As someone who commutes through 4 counties and catches the 4:50PM bus from Seattle to Olympia which doesn't arrive until 7:30PM, and I have to transfer to another bus that takes another few hours directly after -- I need to use the restroom between these lengthy bus rides. It is torture that the management close the restrooms at the station around 6:45PM even though the premises remains occupied by security who instead spend time harassing the street youth, and homeless who frequent the station. All businesses in the area disallow displaced travelers from using their bathrooms, and I cannot go on a scavenger hunt because I would miss the very last bus home which is actually scheduled to leave often minutes before I arrive, but luckily waits. That Intercity doesn't accept ORCA shows just how broken and segregated the transportation systems remain. As Seattle continues to be the fastest growing city in America and more people are pushed south due to rising costs and income inequality, there will be more people taking trips through multiple counties like myself. It's confusing and annoying for drivers and riders who's transfers are ineligible, fare is not clear, and it's even more complicated with disabled passengers who present disabled cards from other counties. Should someone have to buy a bus card for every county? A disabled person cannot afford that -- they already cannot afford to live as it is which was the whole point of giving them a discounted card in whatever county it was purchased. Also, there are no accessible machines at the station to buy a bus pass or even get change when the office isn't staffed. Most shops in Olympia do not have cash-back and it is bewildering how machines and bathrooms people can actually use are absent from the premises. I understand that some transit systems do not want to be part of ORCA/Sound Transit & Metro passes, but there's no excuses for not having a state-wide card that customers can electronically load funds onto and use on all transportation systems. I suggest the management of Intercity Transit travel to Copenhagen Denmark to gain knowledge and learn how to make professional system with functioning stations that actually work -- instead of the current circus that alienates riders, confuses and punishes the disabled and elderly, and provides no clear ways to purchase bus fare for people with limited time or traveling outside of office hours.

  • Though there is a small cost for the ride, Olympia Transit Center has never failed to get me from place to place when I need them.
